Chief Executive Officer
The Executive Director and founder of Safe Community Youth Initiative which is based in Kilifi County of Kenya. , a Peace Ambassador, Peace Monitor and a champion on Gender Equality and SRHR.Being the founder member of the Safe Community Youth Initiative, he has been able to address some of the challenges affecting young people in his community through various interventions supported by different organizations like Kenya Community Support Centre, YADEN, Usalama Reforms Forum, DSW Kenya, Amref Health Africa, Y-Act, Her Voice Fund, Children Rights and Violence Prevention Fund & Trace Kenya. As a youth representative and advocate, Benjamin has been able to mobilize resources and link different projects to community structures. He has also managed the hospitality and field activities of both Safe Community Youth Empowerment Centre.

Riziki Abdalla Yaa
Riziki Yaa Abdallah works under the Finance and Admin department of the Safe Community Youth Initiative. Sexual and Gender-Based violence continues to be a serious challenge in Kenya and the emergence of COVID-19 has only exacerbated it. As a founder member, she is passionate on prevention and response interventions, linking with health facilities, local gender desks, law enforcement officer’s station and court for fast tracking of case progress. As Child Protection Volunteer, vast in knowledge and skills on the protection, care and management on SGBV she is progressively building the capacity of the target group to eliminate gender-based violence through the development of preventive, protective, supportive and transformative environment in the County.

Graduated from Mt. Kenya University with Bachelors in Business Management, major in Banking & Finance option. She worked as an Intern at Imarika Sacco where she learned to communicate well with clients, open new accounts, assess and appraise loans & advances.She has over 6 years work experience;4 years experience as records Management Officer at NG-CDF, 1-year experience as an Office assistant at Hybrids East Africa ltd ,1-year experience as Finance & Admin officer at Ten Senses Africa Ltd. She Currently works as an Accountant at Safe Community Youth Initiative.She specializes in budget preparation process and monitoring reports, Tracking, analysis and reconciliation of SCYI levies and other revenues & preparing fixed asset register
Joyce Moloo works as the Administrative Assistant of the Safe Community Youth Initiative. Her interests are working with adolescents and young people on SRHR. Her experience in this field encourages her reach a variety of adolescents and young people through her choreographic skills. As an admin she performs all duties related to organizational office administration to the delight of all. As a beneficiary of the Young Adolescent Project supported by DSW-Kenya, she has managed to transit from YAP club chairperson to the Admin of the Safe Community Youth Initiative.
Lucy Nyawira Maina is a passionate youth advocate with a ten year working experience as a volunteer community health worker, peer educator and champion on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights, Gender Based Violence, Prevention and Countering of Violent Extremism (P/CVE) and environmental conservation. She is a graduate with a degree in Bachelor of Science (Biology) and project management and is currently pursuing her diploma in Clinical Medicine and surgery. She has been working hand in hand with civil society organizations dealing with health, social service and environmental protection and is currently working as the project coordinator in Safe Community Youth Initiative; a youth led organization in Kenya. She is a member of UNFPA-Youth Advisory Panel (YAP) representing Kilifi County and is currently amplifying the voices of the teenage mother with an aim of reducing the number of teenage pregnancies in Kilifi. Her lifelong objective is to empower the youth not only as learners but also as educators , advocates and leaders..

Passionate about community work and has worked as a volunteer in community work with an experience of 3years as a youth advocate, peer educator and mentor on issues of SRHR with the organization, Safe Community Youth Initiative.worked as a facilitator in Capacity Building in one of the projects, AHEAD for AG(Advancing Health Advocacy Development for Adolescent Girls) aiming at establishing an adolescent-led TWG on HIV for Kilifi County

Stephen Kibindio has over 5 years’ experience in Writing Proposals & Organization Policies, Family Planning Advocacy, Young Adolescents Mentorship, and Communication.Kibindio has a BA (Community Development) from Moi University.He actively participated in the writing of Children Rights Violence Protection Fund proposal and successfully secured the grant amongst other adopted policies in the organization.Kibindio has spent his time imagining and implementing innovative campaigns that work to shape public opinion and advocate for structured public policy for a more responsible, inclusive and fair society.

Edward Thoya Kasiwa
Edward Thoya is the Communication Manager at Safe Community Youth Initiative. He is equipped with soft skills in the Basics of C++ programing language, software engineering skills and computer software skills.He has undergone training under Kataa Kutumiwa Project on Early Warning Early Response, Peace, Conflict Management & PCVE supported by KECOSCE. He participated in the Youth Platform of Opportunity (YPO) and Amka Project supported by YADEN East Africa.He has engaged in peace program at One Nation Under One God, Moving The Goal Post on Prevention & Countering Violent Extremism. He has participated in the development of the County PCVE Action Plan and County Peace Policy.As a peace ambassador, he is supporting young women in conflict with the law to participate in the Inuka Tusemezane Initiatiative funded by Search for Common ground aimed at building young women and men resilience to Counter Violent Conflict in Kilifi County.

Mangale Ali Nyawa is a counselling psychologist, Peer educator, Inspirational speaker Facilitator, Youth advocate on Mental health and sexual reproductive health and rights. He is passionate about seeing individuals become the best version of themselves by focusing on self-growth and development. He is a trainer of trainee on Issues of Sexual Gender Based Violence, He participated in the development of a county SGBV program supported by the County Department of Gender and health in partnership with Institute of health from Finland Embassy in 2018 which was aimed at addressing the high cases of teenage pregnancies in Kilifi County. He has participated on Policy and budget advocacy at the county and national level. He also took part in development of the Kilifi County Youth Friendly Centers Needs Assessments Reports, Mental Health Awareness campaign and the Maoni Yetu Kenya Initiative.
